Mexico enter the 2026 FIFA World Cup as co-hosts and one of football's most passionate nations, where the famous green tide of El Tri fans turns every stadium into a cauldron of noise. Present at every World Cup since 1994, Mexico are haunted by the "quinto partido" curse — seven straight Round of 16 exits without ever advancing. Playing the opening match on home soil at the iconic Estadio Azteca is their best chance in a generation to finally reach a first quarter-final since 1986.
